I usually reserve this list
for good stuff around town that doesn't involve
me, but i can't resist.
I'm in intense play called
Popcorn at the playhouse.
I play a psycho killer. :-) <-fiendish smile
if the the play were a movie, it'd be rated R for violence and adult
situations. so this is some pretty edgy stuff. if you like entertainment
with a bite (which is everyone on this list), this is for you.
If nothing else, come see
this to pledge your support for more experimental
theater. If it weren't for the success of Rocky Horror last summer, they
wouldn't take a risk like this. Help us keep that momentum going!
Call the Playhouse today,
reserve tickets, THEN find your date. :-)
The show runs May 3-6 (only 4 days!!!!!!!) at LCP.
Box office hours are M-F 10-4 489-PLAY.
$10 for non-members
$ 9 for members
Tickets are on sale now, but will go fast once word of mouth starts to
spread.
Here's my blurb...
"Popcorn" at the
Playhouse
In one night, maverick pulp film director, Bruce Delamitri, wins an Oscar
for his Natural Born Killers-type movie, then gets kidnapped by a couple on
a killing rampage. The couple, Wayne and Scout, started their rampage by
mimicking the violence in Delamitri's movie, but decide to up the stakes by
pressuring Delamitri to admit responsibility for their actions.
Written by British playwright
Ben Elton, "Popcorn" poses many important and
controversial questions. Does art imitate or influence life? What level of
censorship is acceptable? Is justice truly blind? Who is ultimately
responsible for violence in the media?
"Popcorn" has a
limited run of May 3rd - 6th. Tickets are $10 for
non-members and $9 for members. Call the Lincoln Community Playhouse (56th &
Normal Blvd) for tickets NOW at 489-PLAY to see this dark comedy/drama. Due
to subject matter, adult situations and violence, this play is for mature
audiences only.
