:: all my sons ::
the arthur miller drama 'all
my sons' has opened on the mainstage
at the community playhouse to a favorable review...
"Directed with cutting exactness by Bob Hall, the drama -
running slightly over two hours - is a finely honed production
that exhibits enticing ebb and flow in its plot disclosure.
Jeremy Kendall almost explodes
across the stage as the noble and
moral Chris, moving
his character through countless variations in
portrayal - all with sound, deliberate and convincing motivation and
execution. The end result being a performance that tingles with
conviction and accomplishment.
On a slightly lesser note,
but only because of the way her character
is crafted, Laura Kendall reaches a similar dramatic feat with her
performance of the strong-willed Ann."

:: wrestling season ::
here's the official word
from the playouse.
this sounds great. i hope my rehersal schedule let's me see this...
THE WRESTLING SEASON, written
by Laurie Brooks, will be presented Tuesday and
Wednesday, January 22 and 23, in the Gallery Theatre at the Playhouse.
Directed by Susanne Evans Mostafa, the play tackles subject matter seldom
addressed but vital to youth and their families: the search for identity and
the peer pressure that accompanies it.
Using only the setting of
a wrestling mat, eight young people struggle with
the destructive power of rumors and how others see them. The action of the
play is overseen by The Referee, who comments from both inside and outside the
drama with hand signals and commands. Using images, movement and sound, cast
members function as a chorus and as individual characters whose stories are
interwoven to create a theatrical event that challenges and reveals their
search for identity.
THE WRESTLING SEASON features
some of Lincoln's finest young actors, including
Jenny Atwood, Kaylin Boosalis, Rob Burt, Kelli Chaves, Dustin Hayes, Joe
Hergert, Joe McCracken, and Britain Waid. Fred Stuart plays the role of the
Referee. The director is assisted by Kally Duling and Josh Weixelman.
Additional performances of
THE WRESTLING SEASON are planned at area high
schools during the spring semester. The play is intended to encourage students
to think about the relevance of the issues it raises, and will be followed by
a discussion led by cast members. It is recommended for those age 13 and
above.
Admission is $5 per person.
call the Lincoln Community Playhouse box office at
489-7529 to reserve tickets.
