OK, I know what most of you are thinking! But this is NOT your standard opera--more
like a melodrama with 18th century language and a bunch of fun songs, some of
which have high notes in 'em.
Join our cast of Liars, Beggars, Thieves and their Wenches in John Gay's smashingly funny, historical spoof on cultural "taste", aristocracy and social morals (or the lack thereof) in 18th century London.
The show is presented by the Third Chair Chamber Players and guests from recent productions of the Lincoln Community Playhouse, the UNL Opera Department, Star City Dinner Theatre, and The Swan Theatre, and is directed by Margy Ryan.
For those of you with LCP ties, the cast includes: Vince Learned, Stephen Charest, Shelly Griess, Deirdre Barney, Danny Johnson, Damon Magnusson, Margy Ryan, Dave Lehnert, Richard Imig, Leia Wilcox, Judy Lind, Jen Wright, Janet Tomas, Callie Slater, and Michelle Muir, as well as Vince's "dueling diva" love interests, opera singers Dawn Pawlewski and Audra Kelley, local attorney Jim Kelley, and intinerant highwayman Jason Johnson (Leia's fiance).
Also on the program is Handel's Concerto Grosso, Op.3, #4
Show times are:
Friday, February 8, 2002, 7 p.m. (This is an open dress rehearsal, and it's
FREE!!)
Saturday, February 9, 2002, 8:00 p.m.
Sunday, February 10, 2002. 2:00 p.m.

Ok, Film buffs,
If you haven't been checking
the NIFP web site
discussion board you might be missing some
opportunities! So check it out and use it often!!
Under the "general"
category, see the post about a Rob
Zombie short Horror Film contest, but hurry! 106.3
"The Blaze" is sponsoring this and has a very 'short'
deadline! Make a 5-10 minute horror film and you can
win 2 tickets to the show and 2 back stage passes to
meet Rob Zombie! Plus the winner's video is put on
Rob's Official Web site!! Lot's 'O' publicity for
you!
I have contacted Samantha
Knight at the Blaze and I am
trying to organize a way for NIFP to get involved in
this event. If I succeed it will be posted on the web
site...It could be VERY cool!
Visit the web site for more info!
Opening Night for the NIFP
Actor's Studio is going to
be pushed back. Visit the web site for more info on
the official opening night as it is updated...
If you ever thought of doing
some acting for
independent film or you might be able to help out with
somebody's, submit a headshot/resume...you don't have
to be a pro actor, just have a little desire! Even if
your not available now but could be in the future
submit today and you can choose the opportunities as
they come. If you know any actors convince them to
get involved...we want this to be successful, but that
means we need lots of interested people to choose from
in order to make it a useful tool for everyone!
Visit the Actor's Studio
on the web site for more info
on how to get involved.
Use the new tools on your
NIFP web site so that you
can make connections and succeed in creating local
independent films!

<-shh! it's a secret
twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by
the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
so throw off the bowlines. sail away from the safe harbor.
catch the trade winds in your sails. explore. dream. discover.
