:: lysistrata project (a reading) ::
submitted by judy hart (Judithkhart@aol.com)
Hello all.
Some of you know about this project, and some of you are hearing about it for
the first time. I am organizing a reading of Lysistrata here in Lincoln on March
3 as part of the international Lysistrata Anti-War Project
(www.lysistrataproject.com). Check out the website for more information and
current press response. I need help getting the word out, posters out and I
still need readers, both male and female. If you are interested in reading and
you can make our rehearsal (on Sunday, March 2 at 11:30 AM) and the performance
(on Monday, March 3 at 7:30 PM), please get back to me immediately. If you can
help by getting a poster up in your workplace or in a public place, get back
to me also. Please specify in your reply which capacity you'd like to participate.
Admission to the reading (Monday, March 3 at 7:30 PM at the Haymarket
Theatre) is by good will donation with proceeds going to Nebraskans
For Peace. Theatre is our hope for the future - it is a place and a time for
community building and honing those listening skills that we've worked hard
recently to dull. After the performance, Carol McShane will lead a group discussion.
Thanks. -Judy (Judithkhart@aol.com)
for an idea
of what to expect, visit the website and click on 'about the play.' here's an
excerpt: "Lysistrata provides a humorous entree into a healthy community
dialogue: What CAN we do on a local level to stop "diplomacy by violence"
in our world?"

i
have signed up to be one of the performers and

editorial
comment:
while we're on the subject, don't mistake my campaign for peace as a protest
against the courageous men and women who have been called upon to engage in
the conflict in the middle east. the objects of my scorn are the decision-makers.
not the brave men and women who have sworn to protect this country and will
be risking their lives in this crusade. i have friends and relatives who stand
at the ready. i am afraid for their safety and endlessly admire their fortitude.
