:: propagandART for april 22, 2003 ::

ok.
before i let loose on the upcoming events, i have to talk about me for a minnit. :-)

i've been cast in a comedy at the playhouse, and i'm just giddy about it!
it's an alan ayckbourn play called comic potential which is set in the 'forseeable future.'
i play adam, a writer who wants to learn about comedy from his idol, chandler tate.
tate is now a washed-up, drunken, bitter and cynical director of a local soap opera.
while on the set, my character falls for one of the android actors: an 'actoid' named jacie.
and, of course, much hilarity ensues.

we've been rehearsing for a week now, and i'm just so thrilled and exhilerated on a nightly basis.
the script is definately funny, but it's the cast that will make this show worth coming to.
every night i come home from rehearsals completely exhausted.
not from working really hard, but from laughing really hard.
start making your plans to see this show on opening weekend: may 23-25!!

ok.

the under 40 democrats are rallying at p.o. pears
on thursday, april 24 from 5:30 to 8pm-ish

This is the last U40s event before Election Day (which is May 6th, in case you forgot), so we're rallying the troops to make sure we don't end up with the type of elected officials we can be proud of. One of our special guests for the evening will be City Councilman Jonathan Cook - if you haven't met Jonathan yet, you need to make sure you do: he's exactly the sort of young and dynamic Democratic leader that the Under 40s want to promote more of.

Under 40 Democrats is a social organization that brings like-minded individuals together for networking and fun for the common goal of strengthening the entire Democratic Party. For more about the u40dems, hit the website www.under40democrats.org

:: peter rabbit ::

from the lcp website...
PETER RABBIT AND ME, Aurand Harris’s adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s beloved "Tale of Peter Rabbit," introduces us to young Beatrix Potter in her London home in 1880. We get a glimpse of her own home life with her father, brother, and governess, and see her imagination in action as she creates the famous fictional characters that populate her stories for children.

Beatrix grows lonely when her brother Bertrum is sent away to school, and, to pass the time, she writes stories for him, including the "Tale of Peter Rabbit." Suddenly, all the people in Beatrix’s life are transformed into the characters in her story – Peter; his brothers and sisters, Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail; their mother Mrs. Rabbit; Mr. McGregor, in whose garden Peter becomes hopelessly lost; and the birds and the mouse who help Peter eventually find his way home.

On The Personal And Global Scene with Special Guest Susan Dunn, The EQ Coach from San Antonio, TX.

Ever wonder why some really smart people don’t do well, while others, with average IQs seem to have the "smarts" to succeed at both work and relationships? Researchers were interested too, and from their discoveries developed the field of Emotional Intelligence.

According to Daniel Goleman, Ph.D., author of "Emotional Intelligence," only about 20% of the factors which make us successful and happy are related to our IQ. In a study of star performers in every field from entry-level jobs to executive positions, 67% of the competencies required for excellence were emotional competencies, not IQ. And the good news is that EQ, unlike IQ, can be developed over our lifetime. It can be learned!
