a little birdy sent me this...
The Forest of Arden comes to Lincoln! As You Like It, Bob Hall's latest
Shakespearean foray, opens June 5, and runs through June 21, at The Swan in
Wyuka, the popular and beautiful open-air venue that's been Lincoln's
Shakespeare festival site for the last several years. Susanne Evan Mostafa
is terrific as Rosalind, and hilarious when disguised as a boy, tutoring her
true love in the ways of romance. We're very lucky to have Susanne back in
Lincoln. Kelly Maybury (Celia) is a great and cheery counterpoint, having
moved from Connecticut recently with a great Shakespearean resume. Dick
Nielsen, one of Lincoln's best-known dramatic actors, does a wonderful turn
in a major comic role -- he brings lots of levels, exudes a charm and humor
throughout, and his costume is classic. Brad Boesen, as Jaques, positively
oozes a biting melancholy on "all the world's a stage". Jon Marinovich
is a
friendly and warm Orlando. The combination of Larry Mota as Silvius, and
Cynthia Artz as Phebe is great, Larry does some excellent begging and
whining! There are many colorful characters filling out the cast, and Bob
has created a disciplined, well-paced, and wonderfully light-hearted show.

:: melodramas at mahoney ::
The Melodrama's at Mahoney State Park are back! John Burkhart directs (or trys to) the antics of Kristine Kapustka, Fred Gartner, Erin Dinneen, Lori Swantek and Jeff Nathan on stage as heroines and heros find love, lose love, discover a villan at the bottom of it all and ultimately have true love and happiness conquer all. It's a lot like real life except it's relatively cheap, indoors, air-conditioned, and just a short drive away. Come to think of it, it's nothing like real life, but you should go see them anyway because they're fun.
