this is an amazing weekend for entertainment.
there are at least a dozen different events with
upwards of 30 performance/start times.

hit the calendar to get the full scoop. here are some highlights....

:: footloose & footloose cabaret ::

another exciting, energetic, raucous summer musical is finally here!!!
i've been to a few rehearsals recently and this show ROCKS!!
it's like a freight train running full-tilt through great pop music.
the leads are all fantastic and the ensemble provides great
depth and energy. get your tickets NOW NOW NOW!!! 489-7529
see the calendar for dates and times.
or hit the lcp site: www.lincolnplayhouse.com

as an added bonus, there will be an 80s-themed footloose cabaret
saturday
night after the show at lcp. it should get started about 10pm.
so stick around after the show, or come on out at 10 and dress in your
favorite 80s fashions. when was the last time you got to wear day-glo
clothing out in public? break out your friendship pins, jelly bracelets,
swatch watches and leg warmers! and be sure to get some extra
aqua-net,
and give your hair that extra tease (or three) and voila: you'll be two inches taller!

there will be a dozen or so karaoke singers doing their favorite 80s songs.
karen wills and i will be the evening hosts, and we'll each do a song as well.
i don't know what karen has planned yet.
i'm trying to convince rob mckercher into joining me for a duet.
and i'm sure there will be some breakdancing somewhere along the way. :-)
attendance is free, (but we will take donations for expenses).

:: blue river art show ::

my father has started the blue river lodge art guild down by crete.
there is a sweet old barn that they use to host some of the most
creative art shows in the state. this weekend they continue their
trend with a showing of work by bob hall and jake gillespie.

print out the map to the art barn and head on down!!
it may look hard to find, but it's really not.
basically you stay on the most traveled path until you get there. :-)
the show runs from friday july 11 to the 13th.

:: roBBQ ::

mark your calendars for july 20th - 4:30pm start time at the landis cabin.
i'm hosting a bbq down at the landis family cabin near crete, ne in honor of
rob mckercher's stint as driving creative force at the community playhouse.
he will be leaving us shortly to join his family in Pennsylvania. for many of us,
this may be the last chance to thank rob for all he's done for lincoln theater.
if you've never met him, but seen his work, come shake his hand and introduce yourself.

this isn't *exclusively* a party for rob, we're just using him as an excuse to lounge
by a small lake, break out the grill , pour some beverages and sit around telling tales
to some good people. anyone who wants to come out is welcome.

i'll provide some good eats, but if you could bring a potluck dish or something to grill
(burgers, dogs, salmon, kebob, whatever), that'd be awesome. please shoot me an
email with any questions: matthew03@landisarts.com

twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by
the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
so throw off the bowlines. sail away from the safe harbor.
catch the trade winds in your sails. explore. dream. discover.
