the guts to put on a risky show
that they know won't make any money. and those shows are usually
really good and thought-provoking. oleanna will be one of those plays.
you won't know it going in, but when you come out you'll be glad you went.
brad bosen and kelli chavez are fantastic
local actors.
seeing them in this show should be worth the price of admission alone.

:: Angels Company Fundraiser ::
The Angels
Theatre Company is presenting 2 fund raisers in late August.
Sunday August 24 is an evening of poetry and story readings and Sunday August
31 is a night of music.
Both events take place on Sunday evenings at 6:30 PM at the James Arthur Vineyards
in Raymond Nebraska (jamesarthurvineyards.com) - (about 15 minutes from Lincoln).
The tickets for the event are $15.00 with $10.00 going to the Angels Theatre Company for our upcoming season and $5.00 going to the vineyard for the use of the space and a glass of wine.

The second annual "Fiesta Nebraska" will be at the Nebraska State Fair again this year.. This weekend event -- free with paid admission to the State Fair -- celebrates the state's growing Latino population. In 2002, more than 5,000 people attended the 2-day Fiesta to dance, eat traditional Latino foods and learn about Hispanic culture.
"Fiesta Nebraska" will be held from 6 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, August 23, and 4-8:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 24. All of the live performances will be held in the Open Air Auditorium. The popular dance group Banda Toro from Los Angeles and internationally acclaimed children's cartoon character El Chichiciulote are this year's featured performers.
The schedule for "Fiesta Nebraska" is listed at the end of this e-mail. In addition to the live performances, community groups will also be present to share information about their organizations and services. Participating groups include: the Hispanic Community Center of Lincoln; the Latino Arts and Humanities Council; Oficina Latina; and Ten Thousand Villages, a retail shop featuring handmade, Latin American products. Authentic Mexican food and beverages will also be available at the Fiesta. This wonderful "festival within the Fair" provides a valuable cultural showcase for visitors from throughout the region. Make plans now to spend some time at "Fiesta Nebraska!"

Chomari Ballet Folklorico Mexicano ~ 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Performing traditional dances from various regions of Mexico, this 20 member
troupe from El Museo Latino in Omaha has been performing throughout the midwest
since 1993.
Banda
Toro ~ 7:15 - 10:00 p.m.
This 12 member group is known for taking English top 40 hits and translating
them into their own unique, banda style. Banda music is a popular dance style
that is played primarily with brass instruments and has a polka-like beat.
Latin
Street Dance ~ 10:00 - midnight
Featuring salsa, banda, cumbia and other popular dance music.

Ballet Folklorico Sabor Mexicano ~ 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
This is a Lincoln group of more than 30 members ages three to 21, all dressed
in elaborate costumes from various regions of Mexico. They feature colorful
dances that educate about the traditions and customs of each region of Mexico.
El
Chichicuilote ~ 5:45 - 6:45 p.m.
This star of a popular TV show seen throughout Mexico has sold more than 300,000
copies worldwide of the CD "12 Chichiculotazos con Banda." The costumed
character will perform his musical hits accompanied by a troupe of dancers and
invites the audience to join in the fun. El Chichicuilote shares the message
of respect for elders and the importance of education.
Sones
de Mexico ~ 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
This acclaimed Chicago ensemble will perform the Mexican music traditional of
son, a lively style that has its roots in mariachi. It recreates the atmosphere
of a traditional fandango where the most colorful, joyous and upbeat sones are
played and danced until sunrise. The group works its way through a collection
of 25 folk string, percussion and wind instruments combined with bright 4-part
vocal arrangements and acrobatic dance demonstrations.
