wake up your sense of adventure ...i know it likes to go to sleep this time of year.
grab a friend...actually, grab date! just about all of this stuff is great date material.
i'm serious dude. ask her out. you know who i mean. yes. her. ask her out.
take to the streets this weekend...there's so much going on,
you're bound to run into something good.

you can find all of the events from the last three emails on the
propagandART home page: http://www.landisarts.com/propagandART/
bookmark this page and use the calendar.
it generally has more events than get sent in the emails.

oh yeah, it's first friday too...so the art galleries will be unvailing their new shows.

Mia Hamm tonight against Norway. The US scored early and dominated play for the rest of the game.

:: US Women Advanced to the World Cup Semifinals ::

it was a great game this evening. the us had a strong performance,
but looked a little out of form for much of the game.
next up will probably be the germans.
they're ranked #3 in the world.
even worse, they're the hottest team in the cup right now.
birgit prinz is the highest scoring player left in tournament
with 4 goals in as many games.

the semifinal game will start at either 6:30 or 9:30. i think.
i'm sure you'll start hearing about it in the media, starting tomorrow.

and if you decide to watch...keep an eye out for my folks and me.
if all goes well, we'll be in the stands for both games. which means
when i get back, i'll know exactly what 20,000 screaming girls sounds like.

michael franti:: spearhead ::

i've heard a little about spearhead, but not much. from what i gather, they're fronted by the supercharismatic michael franti and they play socially conscious roots reggae. all indications say this is a concert not to be missed. so head to the rococo on sunday night. don't wuss out...it could be a magical night.

their website (http://www.spearheadvibrations.com/) has some mp3s you can download and here are a couple of testimonies from recent spearhead concertgoers...oh yeah... and you can buy 'power to the peaceful' t-shirts on his website

My first ever Franti/Spearhead show. Wow, there is nothing better. The music was incredible. The atmosphere was very gentle. The messages were powerful. I wish it hadn't ended! I attended the show with a friend while my son did the same. Not sure if it was a standard show or one of the best, for me it was perfect! Thanks

Absolutely amazing performance. I was utterly stunned by the amount of energy and freewilling nature Spearhead shows live.. You guys ARE GREAT!!!! I was right in front for the whole show and have to say I will remember this concert for the rest of my life.. MC Radioactive was great. I have never seen someone beat box a mix of a song. (Crazy!!) Michael Franti has to be one of the most genuine performers I have ever seen. The whole concert came right from his heart.

:: Noises Off ::

From The Lofte website...
Called the funniest farce ever written, this is not just one play, but two. "Noises Off" is simultaneously the traditional English farce "Nothing On," and the backstage drama that develops during the final dress rehearsal. The two begin to interweave as the characters make their exits from the hilariously mediocre onstage production, only to find themselves making entrances into the even worse nightmare going on backstage. If you ever wondered what those offstage noises might be, don't miss "Noises Off!" We suggest PG13.

October 3-5, 9-12 and 16-19. For ticket information and directions to the Lofte visit http://www.lofte.com.

:: LCP Open House ::

For LCP regulars, this will be a great chance to get together with some friends. And if you've never been to the Playhouse before, this is a perfect opportunity to stop in and meet some of the people involved and get a sense of what goes on without having to pay a single dime!!-m@

On Tuesday, October 7 the Lincoln Community Playhouse Board will be hosting an open house at 5:00p.m. at the Playhouse at 56th & Normal (south of the Library). This event gives you an opportunity to check out the happenings behind the scenes at the Playhouse and allows you to know about the great programs we have available at LCP that you may not already know about. There will be several rehearsals and educational programs happening that evening so the Playhouse will be abuzz, as normal, with activity. This is a very informal affair to introduce interested parties to the community gem that is LCP. Please RSVP to Barbara Kenyon CoachBKK@aol.com by October 3.
