ok...i don't send this stuff out for my health.
i also don't send this stuff out just to let people know what's going on around town.
the reason i send this stuff out is to encourage people getting together.
life is short and i believe in soaking up what life has to offer.
i heard some old person say "if i had my life to live over, i'd make all the same mistakes.
but i'd make them sooner." this statement changed my life.
i think this piece of advice means putting a premium on experience.
so don't sit around waiting for life to happen,
go out and make it happen for yourself.

:: magnificent seven ::

these guys are pretty great. they have good energy, pick good songs and are excellent musicians.
all on their own they're worth seeing. however, the reason i like going to see them is to holler
at the fabulous laniece micek! she generally shows up and sings a few songs with the boys.
and damn she's fun to watch and listen to. maybe i'm biased because we've been in
shows together, but i don't think so. she's just plain good.

this production has the same cast that performed to standing-room-only audiences at unl in 1996.
it deserved all the attention it got back then and it deserves the same attention today.
there's a reason these actors decided to take part in this show again....
it's good. real damn good.

this is a powerful and moving production of august wilson's pulitzer prize-winning script.
the performances are arresting and the play itself is emotionally rich and impactful.
do yourself and your friends a favor... buy tickets to the last weekend of this incredible show
and experience the drama for yourself.

:: pump boys last weekend ::

this is a delightful show.
wonderful characters...fun music...delightful actors...intimate setting...positive vibes...it's got it all.
and all good things must come to an end...so this is the last weekend to catch this great show.

From the LCP website: On highway 57, somewhere between Frog Level and Smyrna, stands a gas station and a sign that reads "Double Cupp Diner." Four guys work at the station and the Cupp sisters wait tables at the diner. PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES is part pop-country concert and part musical theatre. It is a triumph in every way and celebrates the value of friendship and life's simple pleasures. Don’t pass up this chance to share in a lively rock & roll, country and blues musical celebration.

:: Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Company ::
Sunday, October 19, 2003; 3:00 p.m.
Leid Center for Performing Arts
Tickets: $12 ~ Students/Youth: $6

Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Company stars buoyant Fred Garbo and Brazilian ballerina Daielma Santos. The duo have devised a theatrical experience for all ages that involves giant inflated devices and props that interact with the audience with balloons that shimmer and bounce in a rainbow of colors. Garbo was the acrobat inside Sesame Street's Barkley The Dog and was the chief juggler in the Broadway musical Barnum. This show is part of LiedFamFest, which includes a free party for the entire family before the show.

:: I Hate Hamlet ::

Andrew Rally is a big television star, whose series has just been canceled. His agent lands him the "perfect" gig, playing Hamlet in Shakespeare in the Park - only Andrew hates Hamlet. Compounding matters, Andrew's girlfriend is desperately hanging onto her virginity, his friend is pressuring him to return to L.A., and his real estate agent moves him into a rather gothic apartment once owned by the famous John Barrymore. Just when he thinks things couldn't get worse, Barrymore's ghost arrives and informs Andrew he will instruct him on how to play Hamlet.

Playing Andrew is Eric Ojeda with Bill Bratt facing off against him as John Barrymore. Other cast members include Andrea Swartz, Jamie Dorn, Jean Tyser and David Linsenmeyer.

Located at 412 Ella St. Go to Beatrice on Highway 77 south and take a right on Ella ST

I Hate Hamlet runs Oct 10-17th. With shows on Fri, Sat, and a matinee on Sunday. Tickets are $12 and it is in Beatrice.

:: Romeo & Juliet ::

I happen to have a very special October event that folks may enjoy. UNL's production of Romeo and Juliet, opens October 9 and runs Oct. 10, 11, 15, 16, and 17 at 7:30pm and the 19th at 2pm. It's at Howell Theatre at the temple building (12 & Q streets). Our production is set 'the day after tomorrow,' which allows us to make our own setting in a way. We use rapiers and daggers to fight, yet wear somewhat modern clothing with hints of renaissance throughout them. Our two-level set is an elaborate design complete with scaffolding; and the sound design uses techno music and modern artists such as Norah Jones to create our timeless story. If people want to see stomach-clenching humor, a big party scene, lots of sword fights, romance, and tragedy all in the same play, we the cast would love to see them at our production of Romeo and Juliet. Any questions, let me know!
