Vince: The Piano Man:: Vince Learned: The Piano Man ::

I'll bet many of the people on this list already know Vince Learned. If I were to start listing his accomplishments, I'd be writing all night. If I were to start listing his talents, I'd run out of synomyms for "fantastic, wonderful, amazing, kick-ass and supersweet." If I were to start listing all the reasons to go see Vince play and sing at the Del Ray Ballroom, my message would be so long it'd crash Internet Servers.

What I'm trying to say is that Vince is an immensely talented musician and a wonderful human being. He's a great friend he's got a regular gig at the Del Ray Ballroom on Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm. If a drink at a piano bar sounds like a nice way to fill a portion of your evening, hit the Del Ray (8th & R in the Haymarket) on Wednesdays from 6-8pm.

magnificent seven:: Magnificent 7 ::

Laniece Micek and her band of merry men have accumulated a bit of a following in this town. The guys are a formidable rock/blues-jam band and Laniece just plain kicks ass. I've seen them a few times and like them more each time.

They'll be at the Del Ray Ballroom (8th & R in the Haymarket) on Friday (Nov 21) from 9-Close.

:: The Art Barn Season Celebration featuring The Pot Scrubbers ::

David Landis and the Blue River Art Barn have played host to some excellent art shows this year. But it's time to close the barn for the winter and celebrate the passing season. So he's hired a great folk band and asked the artists from this past season to bring a couple of pieces back to show one more time. Among them will also be a display by Tom Hart and Daniel Long Soldier - New works of pen and ink, painting, photographs and sculpture inspired by the Native American culture.

So please feel free to attend the celebration of the season and drink some beer, listen to music and kick around ideas for next season. Anyone wanting to display artwork or hold other events, come be heard. All ideas for using the space will not only be heard, but encouraged!

Join us this Sunday, November 23, from 2pm until 5pm.

A quick word about the band
Nebraska's favorite old-time band, The Pot Scrubbers, will be playing their favorite hot triple fiddle and banjo tunes. Don't miss this chance to hear music ranging from Gid Tanner to the Memphis Jug Band, with a few hot dance tunes from the 1930's and an occasional slow waltz.

Directions
From Lincoln, head south on Highway 77. On Highway 33, turn right, heading West. This highway will take you all the way through Crete. As you are leaving the city limits, turn right heading north on the gravel road just past the "Dorchester 7" sign. Follow this gravel road for approximately 2 miles until you see the "Blue River Lodge" sign. Then follow the signs to the barn/studio. midsummer project:: Midsummer Project ::

A Midsummer Night's Dream ~ Nov 21-23 at 7:30; and also Nov 23 at 2 pm; Nebraska Wesleyan, McDonald Theater
One of Shakespeare's most beloved and imaginative comedies! When mismatched lovers escape into the woods to sort things out, they don't count on interference from a band of mischievous fairies! Throw an amateur theatrical company into the mix and you'll enjoy an evening of laughs resulting from mistaken identities, unpredictable romance and magic! Appropriate for all audiences.

The Donkey Show: A Midsummer Night's Disco ~ Nov 21-22 at 9:15; and also Nov 20 at 7:30; Nebraska Wesleyan, McDonald Theater
The Donkey Show tells the story of A Midsummer Night's Dream through all the 70s disco hits you know by heart. The enchanted forest of Shakespeare's comedy clasic becomes the glittered world of retro disco. Nightclub impresario Oberon and his sidekick Dr. Wheelgood cook up an evening of funky love as they spoon a passion portion to a quartet of clubgoers, two guys named Vinnie and the diva goddss of the moon, Titania. It's a fabulous magic fantasia of mirror balls, glitter and feathers where the unexpected can happen. Appropriate for teenagers & adults.
