'tis the season to revel
in our blessings.
take a minute of your day to think about
the people in your life who have helped you along the way.
find a way to say thank you to some of them this season.
in general, people have 'want
lists' and 'need lists.'
surprise someone with something on their want list.
or maybe you can think of something they'd like
that they didn't know they'd like.
i don't know... but i'm in love with the notion of
finding excuses to spread a little extra cheer this season.
just a thought.
The ultimate rock & roll session man, Leon Russell's long and storied career includes collaborations with a virtual who's who of music icons spanning from Jerry Lee Lewis to Phil Spector to the Rolling Stones. A similar eclecticism and scope also surfaced in his solo work, which couched his charmingly gravelly voice in a rustic yet rich swamp pop fusion of country, blues and gospel.
His formidable
talents will be on display Saturday night at the Del Ray Ballroom!

The show starts at 8pm. Tickets $20 in advance $25 @ the door.

Vince Learned: Piano Man ::
And our very
own legend-in-the-making will be tickling the ivory just ahead of my man Leon.
Vince's crowds are growing each week.
There's a very good reason why.
He's fantastic.

Come see Vince Wednesday at Del Ray Ballroom from 6-8pm.
Also at the Del Ray on Wednesday
is a reception for the artwork of Bob Hall.
Some of his paintings have been on display at the ballroom for a few weeks now.
But they're rightly throwing a reception for his work on Wednesday.
In fact, I believe that his reception is the same time as Vince's gig (see above).
What a great coincidence! :-)

Reflections On A Christmas Tree ::
December
12-December 21, 2003
Written & Directed By: Rick Helweg
Inspired by a short Christmas sketch written by Charles Dickens, Reflections on a Christmas Tree features the stories of Dickens, A.A. Milne and L. Frank Baum, among others, as well as favorite holiday songs, told and sung around the Christmas tree. It’s an event for the entire family that celebrates holiday storytelling, time together and good cheer.
A cast of 58 will tell tales of Christmas and sing songs of the season. An author under pressure from his editor struggles to meet his deadline for drafting a holiday story, setting the themes of generosity and forgiveness that prevail at holiday time. A poor family offers to share what little it has with a young stranger who comes to the house on a cold winter night, never expecting who that child might be. The tables turn a bit with the not-so-sweet lesson of “The Nutcracker Dwarf.” Other stories reveal the origins of “a baker’s dozen,” Christmas tree tinsel, and Santa’s first Christmas tree.
Four choirs offer favorite tunes ranging from “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear,” “Oh Christmas Tree,” “I’m Getting’ Nuttin’ For Christmas,” to “White Christmas,” and “The Christmas Song.”
Bring your whole family to our house this holiday season.

:: RootsLove (Reggae) ::
In September of 2001, the love of reggae music brought some very unique individuals from around the globe together to form the group of RootsLove. Joseph (drums & vocals) and Gai (rhythm guitar & vocals) are refugees from the war torn country of Sudan. Zane (bass guitar) is a Lincoln native, who has performed with various other jazz and blues fusion bands over the last decade. Pat is an accomplished musician whose specialty is the lead guitar. Jo (back up vocals) is a native of East Texas, and brings delightful harmonies to the group, and a whole lot of attitude. Two newcomers to the band are David & Dale. David instills a distinctive Latin sound to the rhythm guitar. Dale is a DJ for KZUM and plays percussion.
The product is a fun, relaxing, make you want to move experience that crosses cultural boundaries, combining many diverse backgrounds and influences, that is great for young and old alike.

:: A message from Deepak ::
As many of you know, Deepak is deeply involved in the Alliance for a New Humanity, which will hold its first meeting in Puerto Rico December 11-14. He is asking that everyone who can to come and participate in the inauguration of this movement toward peace. In a recent letter, he had this to say:
"If you cannot join
me in person in Puerto Rico, then help in another profound way by establishing
a Worldwide Web of Light. At 8 p.m. your time on December 11,
wherever you are in the world, light a candle, and focus on the intentions of
social justice for all, for starving mouths to be fed, for ecological ignorance
to come to an end, and for violence to melt into peace. Just place those intentions
in your consciousness. This way in time zones around the world the light will
shine, peace cells will be born, compassion will manifest, and social justice
will begin to replace poverty and starvation.
Please focus on each intention for one minute.
- Inhale social justice and responsibility and exhale injustice, inhale abundance
and nourishment for all people and exhale starvation.
- Inhale the flourishing of love and awareness and exhale selfishness.
- Inhale global peace and compassion and exhale violence.
- For the fifth silent minute, intend for the spontaneous fulfillment of your
own personal desire.
Let the candle burn all night as a symbol of these intentions in your window
so the night sky will be lit with our collective desires.
This web of intention that we establish on that evening will shift the collective
consciousness forever. Share this message with everyone you know, with everyone
you care for. This is a moment of awareness for all of us to seize. E-mail a
copy of the e-mail you send to the energychain@chopra.com.
The person who shares this message in the most e-mails will join me for a compoimentary
SynchroDestiny seminar at the Chopra Center.
I look forward to seeing you in Puerto Rico and celebrating in changing the
world forever. The possibilities are endless.
Love, Deepak"
