The PlainSong Folk Festival committee is sponsoring a benefit concert and silent auction to raise funds for the 2004 PlainSong Folk Festival scheduled on October 2nd. Silent Auction bidding will begin at 7PM with music by groups, the Potscrubbers and Baby Needs Shoes beginning at 7:30PM.
Centerville Market is the venue for this event, located on the corner of 8th & Q Streets in the historic haymarket of Lincoln. Centerville Market is a locally owned year-round farmers market, featuring Midwest produced products.
The Potscrubbers will begin the concert with their delightful sounds of old-time fiddle tunes. This four piece, toe tappin group is the creation of local, long time fiddler, Dave Fowler.
Vocal trio, Baby Needs Shoes will be the featured performance group of the evening with their spirited songs of the 1940s, jazz tunes, folk songs, and comedy. Baby Needs Shoes is comprised of three women musicians, each a performer in other musical groups as well. Melodee Landis, Nancy Marshall, and Terri Jo travel the area, promoting their CD release, “Shoe Shoe Baby” and presenting statewide concerts as part of the Nebraska Arts Council touring roster. Ticket prices for this benefit are available at Crescent Moon Coffee (816 P Street , 435-2828) or at the Centerville Market. Ticket prices are $10.00 for adults and $5 for children ages twelve and under.
All proceeds from this event
will be applied to the production costs for the 3rd PlainSong festival to be
held at the Olive Creek Orchard on October 2, 2004. For more information on
