ANGELS THEATRE COMPANY PRESENTS COMEDIC DRAMA 'GRACE'
(Lincoln, Nebraska)-The Angels Theatre Company, a Lincoln-based performing arts organization, presents the comedic drama GRACE by Michael Lewis MacLennan. Directed by Constance McCord, a UNL alum who currently resides in New York City, GRACE charts the lives of six remarkable people during a single day - a day when each ones life is inexorably changed. As their paths intersect, these strangers affect and transform one another in surprising, often hilarious ways. Performances are Thursday, November 18 through Tuesday, November 23 and two additional post-Thanksgiving performances on Saturday and Sunday, November 27 and 28. All performances are at 7:30 PM at THE LOFT AT THE MILL, 8th and P Streets. Tickets are general admission, $15 regular and $7 students and senior citizens. Tickets are available at the door or reservations may be made at 474-2206 or on line at www.angelscompany.org.
GRACE, the winner of the 1996 Canadian National Playwriting Competition, is a heart-wrenching yet life-affirming exploration of fate and attraction, investigating what it means to achieve the grace of meaningful, if fleeting, human connection in the city. Cast members include Bernie Clark as Hugh, Zachary Allen as Jared, Gregory Peters as Thomas, Jessica Chere Watson as Paula and Equity actresses Tammy L. Meneghini as Lonnie and Judith K. Hart as Ruth. Stage management is by Kate Burger assisted by Kim Moore. Scenery and lighting design is by Dan Stratman, with sound design by Matt Bross.
Xtra Magazine wrote "In Michael Lewis MacLennan's GRACE, a fascinating sequence of linked episodes about the fear and mercy of strangers, the 'angels' are fiercely idiosyncratic, gloriously loopy, and disturbingly strange. They turn seediness into beauty and devastation into hopeŠThe characters are observed with amazing candour and much humourŠMacLennan has written a small miracle of theatre."
The Victoria News said "GRACE tackles innocence lost with poetry worthy of Blake."
