:: propagandART ~ january 24, 2006 ::

the excitement for this weekend continues to grow!
my birthdaybash on friday...
the odd couple at the playhouse on saturday...
the rolling stones at the qwest center on sunday...
what a helluva way to get older. :-)

i sure hope to see you friday....

:: Landisparty 2006 ::

OK...last week i said i was going to include the map to my house...and i didn't.
eesh. here your official invitation with map: www.landisarts.com/landisparty
(feel free to forward the link to your friends!)

so now you have no excuses.
come to my house on friday for a damn good time.
i'm totally excited to see those of you i haven't seen in a while.
that's the single best thing about these parties.

this will also be a great chance to buy some tickets to the
vince learned project concert (feb 18th @ loft at the mill).
tickets are already selling well and we anticipate selling out.
so snatch 'em up quicklike!

:: Rolling Stones ::

ok...i know that this has been sold out for months.
and i know that you think the tickets cost a bazillion dollars.

BUT!

i went to u2 in december without tickets and paid less than face value
for a pair of tickets and got to see one of my favorite shows of all time.
ok...not THE favorite...and not THE best...but ONE of my favorites.
all because i gave myself a chance to see one of the greatest rock'n'roll
bands on the planet when they were in my backyard.
i would've kicked myself for years had i not even tried...
the worst that can happen is you go up, have a nice dinner and
have a funny story to tell at the end.
but the best case scenario? come on...it the friggin stones, man!

:: World Wide Wines: Lux Center for the Arts Fund-Raiser ::

A Note From Lettie Van Hemert (vanhemert@luxcenter.org) …

Dear Friends,

I’ve been at the Lux Center for the Arts for a couple of months and am having a great time learning about the world of art! Please join me on Friday, January 27th for the World Wide Wines event. You can stop at the Lux Center for the wine tasting, see (and purchase) some fabulous art from our gallery exhibition of contemporary art and fine craft, and then hop over to Matt’s house for LANDISPARTY 2006. The art here is way cool, and would make great birthday or wedding gifts. ;-)

Official Press Release Info: World Wide Wines, a wine-tasting to raise funds for the non-profit Lux Center for the Arts (formerly University Place Art Center), will offer attendees world-caliber wines, art and poetry. U.S. Poet Laureate and Nebraska native Ted Kooser will attend and read his poem How to Make Rhubarb Wine. The event, to be held at the Lux Center (48th and Baldwin) on Friday, January 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. is $30 for Center members or $35 in advance/$40 at the door for non-members and is open to the public. Eight selections of wines from around the world will be served from four stations located throughout the Lux Center by 32 local artists, collectors and other prominent Lincoln personalities. For reservations call 466-8692.

:: The Odd Couple(s) ::

LCP, in association with The Crooked Codpiece Company, will stage both versions of The Odd Couple!

Unger and Madison are at it again! In the female version ... it's Florence Unger and Olive Madison! Instead of that poker game that opens the original male version, Ms. Madison has invited her female friends over for an evening of Trivial Pursuit. And, in this version, the Pigeon sisters have become the Costazuela brothers. The situation is the same. Only the gender has been changed!

In the classic male version ... it's Felix Unger and Oscar Madison playing poker with a group of the boys. The slob bachelor and meticulous soon-to-be-divorced friend bunk together with hilarious results.

Female Cast:
Thursday, January 26 - 7:30 PM
Friday, January 27 - 7:30 PM

Male Cast:

:: Third Chair Chamber Players ::

Third Chair Chamber Players offer a unique chamber music experience from the moment you enter the lobby at The Loft at the Mill, where you are surrounded with fine art by Modern Arts Midwest. Your concert seat is in the same space as the musicians (there’s no elevated stage separating you from the music). You will enjoy appetizing hors d’oeuvres and a wide selection of beverages. You’ll be able to mingle and talk with the musicians (we encourage questions and lively discussion about the music). During intermission you can stroll through the Modern Arts Midwest gallery before refilling your glass and returning for the second half.

The Third Chair Chamber Players creates the total Chamber music experience of excellent artistry, unique programming, delicious food, fine art, and lively conversation. Eight times a year TCCP invites you to what is truly one of the great gathering places in Lincoln. Visit their website for season tickets or other information: www.tccp.us
