are you ready for some KICKBALL?
yeah...seriously...kickball!
i know, i know...you haven't played since elementary school.
neither have we...it just sounds like a whole damn lotta fun!

for those deprived of a lincoln public schools education,
kickball is like softball, except you play with a four-square ball
and kick it instead of bat it. yeah...it's super fun.

jeremy & laura kendall and i are putting on a game this monday, august 14th.
gather at ELKS field (on capitol pkwy & sumner - next to chet ager jr golf course)
by 6pm and we'll organize whomever wants to play.

all are welcome - players, spectators, cheerleaders, whatever.
snack food and beverages are not only welcome but recommended!

so...you in? :-)

what're you doing on saturday?
maybe you have a date?
maybe you're looking for something a little out of the ordinary, but not TOO far out?
maybe you're having a bad week and want something laid back but re-energizing?

well...how does kicking back with a damn good glass of wine, listening to a damn good
rock'n'roll cover band and chilling in a charming rural courtyard outside of town sound to you?
too good to be true? HA!! no way, kids...let me hook you up!

the learned project (www.myspace.com/learnedproject) will be playing out at
james arthur vineyards on saturday from 6-9pm. we'll keep our set as laid back as we can...
but damnitall, we're a rock'n'roll outfit...you can't ask a jaguar to be a housecat, can you?
so we'll stay true to our identity, but cater to the laid back environment by choosing songs
that don't totally rock out. wait...that's not true. i bet that by the end of the night we'll turn
it loose a bit. and we won't apologize for it. :-)

so...in sumation...
great from each decade of the rock'n'roll era
tasty wine from nebraska's premier vineyard
and a lovely outdoor courtyard in scenic rural nebraska
are you REALLY going to say to me: 'nah...that doesn't sound very fun'?
then getchyo tail in the car and head out to raymond!!

saturday, august 12th ~ 6-9pm
james arthur vineyards ~ 2001 w. raymond road; raymond, ne

:: k ::

i almost sent off this email without mentioning rough magic's production of "k." which is a story about franz kafka...i think. it was initially written by gregory peters, then workshopped by the members of rough magic (including cast members, i think). i really don't know much about it. but dammit, local people writing, producing and directing original works TOTALLY charges me up.

for the sake of all that's good about the arts, we should ALL get off our complacent asses and go see this show! then leave them a donation on the way out! seriously. rough magic is a fantastic local theater organization. go to their blog link on www.myspace.com/roughmagicne.

August 10, 11*, 12 ~ 7:30pm (*additional late show starts at 10:30pm)
